Aisha Franz is a Berlin-based comic artist and illustrator whose comics turn everyday situations into funny, unsettling, and sometimes surreal explorations of contemporary life.

She is the author of several graphic novels and mini-comics, including Shit Is Real, which was nominated for the LA Times Book Prize.

Her graphic novel Work-Life Balance received the 2022 Max and Moritz Prize for best German-language comic and was also nominated for the FIBD Angoulême Award. In 2020, she was awarded a comics scholarship from the Berlin Senate Cultural Affairs Department.

Alongside her artistic practice, she has a sustained teaching practice in illustration and comics. She previously worked as teaching assistant  at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and has since taught in various academic and workshop contexts internationally.

She is also involved in collaborative projects such as Clubhouse, a residency and publication initiative developed with the Berlin riso print studio Colorama. Her work in children’s publishing includes contributions to the series Drei aus der Zukunft, originally created for ZEIT LEO, with a second volume planned for 2026.

In 2026 she is a fellow at Villa Aurora, Los Angeles.
